Our Story
Bend Custom Farming and Grazing was created in response to the severe drought affecting Central Oregon right now.
Our home farm is located in the Arnold irrigation district which holds less senior water rights meaning our water is one of the last to be received and often the first to be cut off. This lack of water severely affects what we are able to grow on our farm, which in turn affects our ability to keep our animals fed. For us to stay in business and keep our animals well fed, we had to adapt by moving our animals off the farm and rethink how and what we grow. Over the years of this increasingly dire drought, we’ve invested our time and experience into creating a robust off-farm grazing and custom farming system that is the heart of Bend Custom Farming and Grazing. By offering our time, equipment and animals, we aim to improve the soil and production of your fields without the use of traditional extractive methods all the while feeding our animals!
Bend Custom Farming and Grazing is the land operations branch of North 44 Farm, which is a first-generation farm located just east of Bend, OR. Made up of husband-and-wife team Ethan and Courtney, her parents, and Herd Boss Griffin. As North 44 Farm, we raise high welfare, grass fed and finished beef and lamb that we sell direct to consumers through our website, at Farmers Markets, local restaurants, and retailers in Central Oregon.
